Whenever I try to type "The Great British Bake-off" (which I do quite a bit, since I'm a little bit addicted to it) it comes out as "The Great Brutish Bake-off." I like the idea of a Great Brutish Bake-off, in which assorted thugs, barbarians and hired goons compete the bake the best scones, while brutally stealing each other's ingredients, and attempting discreet murder with kitchen utensils.

LOL!! Well, that would certainly be a different kind of Bake-off!! :D

And yes, I, too, have succumbed to it! It was the Comedy Relief ones that did it, making me check out the normal series... and watch repeats when they were on of the series I'd missed!

I've even started watching the half hour round up show on Fridays...

I stumbled on it a couple of years ago - in the second series, I think. I thought I was just watching it half-heartedly while pottering online, until I found myself seeking it out on iPlayer when I was out one night and missed it. I watch the Friday show, too, although I find it rather annoying and pointless and useless... but I still watch it, anyway. :-)

You could mix in Scrapheap Challenge as well...

"Today you have ten hours to create the most scrumptiously deliciously wonderful cream tea, using whatever you can scavenge from our market."
"Yes, today's two teams will have to find their ingredients, make the jam, bake the scones and clot the cream, all within ten hours using the ingredients we've carefully hidden around today's market. The clock starts..." *pulls lever* "wait for it..." *CLANG* "Now!"

And as well as baking the cream tea, they also have to build a catapult that will launch it into the air and hurl it at a pre-arranged target (probably a silver platter.) So the cream tea will have to be designed to be aerodynamic as well as tasty.

Of course, one team will build a sensible catapult that'll fling the cream tea in the vague direction of the platter, while the other will create an enormous trebuchet that'll completely dismantle itself when fired.

It would, of course, feature BRIAN BLESSED as the jovial and casually murderous host.
