The Co-Op is offering "2 for £3 on territorial cheese." However, when I picked up some Double Gloucester and put it in with the Red Leicester, there was absolutely no bloodshed or even mild snarling. The Red Leicester just sat there, apparently totally undisturbed by the intruder. I was bitterly disappointed.

And are territorial cheeses anything like the territorial army, fulfilling the role of part-time backup cheeses? And are there also volunteer reserve cheeses?

I very much hope that there are volunteer reserve cheeses. Also that there's a sitcom called Dad's Cheeses, that dramatises the comical misadventures of a batch of very minor cheeses in their earnest desire to protect the people of England from the ravages of the Healthy Eating Army.
