Georgette Heyer

I've just read another batch of Georgette Heyers, having read an initial batch in January and February. I asked for recommendations back then, but in reality, my choice of title has been dictated more by chance - i.e. what happens to be on the library shelves or in local charity shops - than by design.

Death by chocolate

We danced this evening at a caravan holiday park, with a short slot on the ballroom floor beneath blazing lights. Just before we went on, the entertainment consisted of a member of staff sitting on stage with a line of chocolate spread painted down her face, dividing it into two halves. Two children were then given a minute to decorate her face with chocolate spread, biscuits, hundreds and thousands, Smarties etc, and there was a prize for the person who did it best.

Why?

Also, why were there so many school-age children on holiday at this place, rather than being at home, going to school?
