Note to self: When a very large and very very very heavy box turns up, totally packed to the gunwales with small bits of metal do not carry it out to the car by yourself. Get a passing Big Strong Man to do it. Do not stubbornly set your chin, heave the box up off the floor, and set out. Especially do not do this when your car is at the far end of the car park, and every delivery van and mobile library in the area is manoeuvring between you and your car, causing you to constantly stop and give way. My arms have turned into jelly now, as if my bones have disappeared and been replaced my mush. I try to tell my arm to grip that mug of coffee, and instead it goes fl-bump! and lands six inches short, its fingers limply trying to pick up some scissors.
Also, do not look at the label on the box and find out quite how much money said small bits of metal cost.

Date: 2008-01-31 11:50 am (UTC)Most of mine's aluminium so I don't think I'm to blame for much of the weight, though I suspect I'm to blame for most of the price. Which given the circumstances is probably not a good thing as I obviously should have saved my money to give to the plumber rather than the blacksmith...
