I was amused by this message on my computer at work:

Photobucket

I like the idea of the Microsoft Time Machine. There you go into the past ("Loading Ancient Greece - 72% complete") and have your fun. Murder Alexander the Great in his cradle, introduce modern medicine to the Black Death, plant supermarket trolleys in Pre-Cambrian era, teach rap to medieval monks, start the Reformation two centuries early etc. etc. History's your oyster. When you're bored and want to come back, just click "no" when asked if you want to save changes.

Of course, the problems start if you're in a bit of rush. Imagine the scene: Terrified British explorer is chased back to his time machine by a horde of rampaging dinosaurs. Breathless, panicking, he stabs at the controls, desperate to go home. "Do you want to save changes...?" "No! No!" gasps the British man, hitting "enter." "Oh no!" he cries, an instant later, but it is too late. The hour glass shows for a moment. "I meant to say no," says the French pink jellyfish, as he grovels to his ape overlords...

Ooh, I feel a challenge coming in! I now want to post the most boring, uninteresting post imaginable... ;-)

Just you wait! Tomorrow, maybe, or the next day, or maybe the weekend. My post will be so incredibly, mind-numbingly boring that my entire Friends list will fall asleep (and then my minions will sneak in and rob them all of their precious things, haha!)

*ahem*

Just you wait. Just you wait.

Nope - you couldn't do that if you tried!

Am I suffering some bizarre form of 'deja lit', or didn't you attempt this very challenge before, some time?

I did something similar, yes. That was when I'd done one of my long posts musing about some issue or other, and someone said "great post, as always", which I took as a challenge to write a meaningless and decidedly non-"great" post. (here (http://ladyofastolat.livejournal.com/112084.html)) So I've done "inane and stupid"; I've not yet tried "boring."
