Cherry wine and singing

ladyofastolatAnother solitary weekend. This time, Pellinor's off slaying undead hordes in Guildford. I have to do a children's book group tomorrow morning, and, as usual, it's role-playing on Sunday night, but the rest of the weekend's my own.
Pelly left behind a bottle of cherry wine to tempt me into badness. Cherry wine is my traditional "I've finished!" drink, so I'm not sure if I'm supposed to drink it tonight, going, "woo-hoo! Half-term storytimes are finished!" or to drink it tomorrow, going, "Oh no! I've finished A Feast for Crows!" (I have 130 pages to go, so could eke it out some more, but I prefer to enjoy a denouement all in one go, so tomorrow afternoon it is.)
So I intend to have half today, and half tomorrow. However, I know from experience that after one has drunk half a bottle of cherry wine, all those very good reasons for not drinking the other half suddenly seem to be not quite so good after all. Ah well...
Tomorrow night I might go to the local folk club, assuming I get round to polishing up some songs to sing. I know plenty of songs well enough to sing in a drunken sing-around in a muddy field during a folk festival, but you need to know them so much better to stand up on a stage and perform to a crowded room. I fancy singing some songs collected in 1908 from chaps in Winchcombe workhouse (Winchcombe being my home town), since I've done quite a bit of research into those people. It's really wonderful to sing a song, when you know all about the life of the person who sang it a hundred years ago.
Oh, and we probably need to get a new shower, a new carpet, and new wall, thanks to a long-term shower leak that a certain person didn't notice for weeks. I never use that shower, and Pelly always uses it while 90 percent asleep and without his glasses on, so the carpet had gone black with mould, and the wall and skirting boards all swollen and rotten, and he hadn't actually noticed. Grr!
