Yeees, i've been reading the articles about this with interest because i'm interested in the science. But there seems to be precious little about the science and an awful lot of sensationalist "men are redundant!". For a start off, there's nothing to say this is even viable yet, it's just a breakthrough for something that might help infertile men have a child. It's not about replacing men altogether. And lets face it, if a woman wants a baby without a man in the picture, she already can with a sperm donor. But the vast majority of women still and always will (for all their faults) want the man to go along with the sperm.
And you're totally right - if it was about women there'd be uproar. I could start a whole new rant about how "equality" doesn't mean subverting men, but this comment is long enough already!
