I just saw a reference to someone who is "undoubtedly the most famous character in literature." Who do you reckon they were talking about?

Because I so desperately need more ways to fritter away my time, I appear to have joined Librarything, and am now getting as obsessive about cataloguing all my books as I would have expected of myself. I did 84 tonight, while I was supposedly watching men with long hair and pretty clothes pretend to be Pre-Raphaelites. Many, many more to go. And Pellinor's now joined, too, so we can have many happy hours ahead of us arguing about ownership of those books that we've both read and enjoyed. Pellinor appears to be trying to break the system. He's put on precisely three books - 3 random books that I don't think anyone could find any possible connection between.

Anyway, for those who want to know who the most famous person in literature is, it is... Behind a cut for those who still want to play at guessing )

EDIT: I should add that the source of the quote gives me no reason at all to believe that any research had been undertaken to back up this claim. I have no idea who really is "the most famous character in literature", or even if such a thing could ever really be established, given the various problems with this statement.
