...because I felt guilty about those people who got missed out last time, just because their names didn't scan, or because I couldn't think of a second line. My excuse is that I wrote the original song in my head in bed, and when it got to about 2 in the morning, I had to be firm with myself and stop trying to come up with extra verses, in order to get some sleep.
So here are some of the missing verses, written in my head last night - and after quite a lot of wine, too, which explains quite a bit. I have added some redundant extra syllables to a couple of names to make them fit the metre, so please forgive me.
And here's to Mailmaiden and also to Bacchus
May Christmas be winey and Crosbie, with crackers,
A Christmas with Bing, that may we all see,
With our wassailing bowl we'll drink unto thee.
And here's to the slumber of Sko-ordh and Polly,
May the baby stop crying, so you can be jolly,
A good silent night, that may we all see,
With our wassailing bowl we'll drink unto thee.
And good Christmas wishes to Pe-ellegrina,
May work hours get better as winter turns greener,
A pleasanter spring, that may we all see,
With our wassailing bowl we'll drink unto thee.
And here is to Na'Lon and Marquis as well,
May Christmas be restful, and work not too hell,
A good Christmas break, that may we all see,
With our wassailing bowl we'll drink unto thee.
And here is to Phina, who's rashly inviting,
Hordes to her house for gaming (Exciting!)
A New Year of games, that may we all see,
With our wassailing bowl we'll drink unto thee.
And here is to Foradan who's soon to be married,
I hope things go smoothly and you don't get harried,
A wedding next year, that may we all see,
With our wassailing bowl we'll drink unto thee.
We're off to the Mainland in three hours, and back on Tuesday. I hope everyone has a lovely Christmas!
